The Pro Football Hall of Fame has 8 programs to choose from that address a variety of curricular areas. The Baseball Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are two other content providers that might also be of interest to you. The programming at these locations add an aspect of fun to learning while addressing a wide variety of standards. These content providers may capture the attention and interests of students who may not respond to traditional lessons.
Please comment on the following:
Look through the video conference sessions offered by each of the programs at the above links. Find one and tell how you would integrate into a unit of study.

I can see using the "Careers in the NFL" program with the career exploration class in my school. This would hook the boys! I like the supporing materials on their website as well. The gentleman who lead the discussion was very entertaining and good at facilitating the conversation.

This sport is so popular teaching the varied careers would be very interesting at all levels
This would work better for High School.
Good for PE teachers or Guidance Counselors looking to match a student's sport interest with a job... not much here for me.
I went to the Baseball Hall of Fame site and they had some interesting activities:

This would work great in my high school. I have a business teacher in mind who might be interested in using this program. A lot of our student-athletes think they will be an NFL (or NBA, MLB) player. This would give them a reality check along with a suggestion for possible career choices related to the sport they love.

Middle and high school students will love this experience. Many students will never have the opportunity to travel to Canton. This might be a great after school experience for only students that really have a passion for football.

I'm interested in reading that book he talked about for middle school ELA and then possibly doing a follow up activity with it.
Also, this would be a GREAT activity for high school guidance counselors to show students about different careers. I think our schools don't do enough of this kind of thing-- kids would love to learn about this!
This would be wonderful for career research and study. The boys especially would love it.

Very interesting! The middle and high school students would be excited about this.

I see using the Careers in Football along w/our school counselor for our annual career fair. The Baseball Hall of Fame and Rock N Roll Hall have some excellent programs for students on a wide variety of themes. At the BB site I will use the geography theme.

My male students would love to participate in this video conference!

This would be a nice program for many grade levels. With the popularity of professional sports, students would be greatly interested in participating in these types of events.
Great session...so many ideas. One thing I did in my math class using the map was locating the different "football" cities. Then we found out how many seats each stadium had and then used that number to round numbers to different placed values or use the numbers for data analysis (mean, median, mode, range, etc.)

Not a football fan, but can see how this would be of high interest to students. Use in conjunction with a career program.
This was great, we are always looking for ways for our students to start (thinking about) choosing careers.

careers in the nfl would be great to use with our seniors. the first week of school we have them create their resume and start looking into future careers.
so many of them have such a hard time grasping everything that goes into one football game for example. this would really open their eyes to opportunities.

Fantastic!
My kids would love to visit this site!
Could we get his name and email.
I really like the Baseball Hall of Fame activities - I would love to see more of those at the football site. As a social studies teacher, all the activities that have to do with history and geography are relevant and the sports angle hooks many kids - not just boys.
Another great way to enhance learning. The baseball hall of fame offers a math baseball game that incorporates fractions, ratios, percents, and decimals. This would be a fantastic review of a unit covered in 6th grade.

It seems obvious that the Football Hall of Fame has a desire to connect with our youth. They presented a positive message that could be well received by many.
I don't necessarily see how this program would apply to my specific program, however I could see using it as a "special event" in the area of career exploration.
Very reasonable price!!

Loved this particular conference! This would be great to use in my goods and services and community workers unit especially with the high level of interest. Price was great and so was the speaker!
This is great. I have already emailed my teacher that teaches a sports management course and he wants me to schedule a connection for the careers in the NFL. This presentation was excellent!
Excellent content for middle school and even 9th grade students, especially in the urban schools where so many students strive to be a pro athelete.
The idea of using this type of technology for a career day is intriguing. You could have a variety of speakers from all over addressing the students.

Would like to see programs that feature famous athletes.
